Aldridge & Carpenter Nursery Stock

Like many of North Carolina's more vintage nurseries, Aldridge & Carpenter's roots go back to the native plant business. They've been shipping rhododendron and mountain laurel for many moons and will continue to do so. Through the years the rhododendron and mountain laurel quality has improved as they have begun to offer more "nursery grown" stock and better "cutbacks" than in times past. They can also get the bigger collected material but be aware that it is collected. Once you get into 5' material the plants begin to "grow legs" (aka - they have bare bottoms). But that's not all Aldridge & Carpenter does. They are a great conifer source, another part of the business that traces back to their roots, that offers Pinus strobus, Picea abies, Tsuga canadensis, and Cupressocyparis leylandii. Boxwoods are another staple of their mix available from 18" up to 6' though you must call for pricing and availability on the larger material.

Over the past several years Aldridge & Carpenter have added lots of deciduous material to their mix. They don't have a broad mix of deciduous but certainly enough of an offering for many landscape accounts and garden centers. Especially nice are items like Prunus v. Canada Red, Amelanchier singles, Magnolias (Jane & Claudia Wannamaker), crabapples (beautiful!), and several varieties of Acer rubrum and Acer saccharum. With only a couple of hundred acres in production, this is a nursery where you can get your stock shipped in a timely manner.

You can't go wrong with a mixed load of evergreens and natives or a load full of deciduous trees from Aldridge & Carpenter!
