Sales Department

McHutchison & Vaughan’s Regional Sales Manager

As one of the industry faces for McHutchison & Vaughan’s, this position demands complete professionalism, honesty, integrity and ethical standards. You must provide leadership and coordination of the regional sales management functions. Develop and implement regional sales and marketing strategies to meet or exceed our sales plan. Monitor and analyze sales & marketing activities against goals, and provide leadership for our management team all in light of our financial goals and performance.

As part of the sales management team this role supports the current efforts of our sales teams, but it also serves as a vital role for developing our sales representatives.  This position will have a primary focus on sales team development, mentoring our newer sales representatives, as well as working closely with our seasoned sales team to enhance their sales strategies & efforts.   

An ideal candidate for this role should have strength in these three core personality qualities: integrity, enthusiasm & pragmatic optimism.

 

Position requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years in a sales capacity in the horticulture industry
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience preferred
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven leadership ability to influence, develop, and empower employees to achieve goals
  • This position requires the ability to travel and work a flexible schedule. 30- 40% travel estimated
  • Basic technology skills in MS Word, Excel, PP and Outlook are required
  • Position ideally would be based in our Naperville, IL office, but a remote office will be considered

 

Primary responsibilities:

  • Sales Team Management/Development
    • Work with assigned reps to increase the profitability in their territories
      • Territory management
        • Sales planning and goals
      • Customer strategies
      • Pricing/margin strategies
      • Sampling/trialing programs
    • Recruit new and replace retiring sales representatives
    • On board, monitor and measure new sales representatives
    • Develop, deploy & lead ‘Sales Rep Enrichment Program’
      • Two-year career development program
    • Coach/mentor and provide feedback to underperforming reps
      • Assess performance and suggestive corrective actions
    • Advocate for your sales team to ensure proper support & service are provided by our office team

 

  • Sales Management
    • Assist in the creation of annual sales budgets & strategies
    • Collaborate with MCHV & DO product managers to ensure development and deployment of sales strategies to meet & exceed MCHV sales goals
    • Meeting, training and trip coordination as required
    • Sales report development and distribution
