Nursery Sales Representatives for: Maryland, Oregon & New York (Upstate)
The goal of the Nursery Sales Representative position is to grow sales and profitability for the assigned territory with the existing customer base while prospecting and creating new customers. This role is an integral part of the growth and profitability of not just the Nursery portion of our business but also the McHutchison brand.
The following outlines that major responsibilities for the Nursery sales position:
- Foster relationships that grow sales and profitability
- Travel to customers – build relationships, understand their needs, understand their concerns, work with internal partners to service needs and address concerns.
- Generate new sales opportunities by prospecting new customers in your territory
- Full-service management of accounts:
- Manage customer orders & programs
- Booking and input of orders
- Involvement in order changes & substitutions
- Claim resolution
- Develop, administer & follow up on trialing programs targeted to achieve sales objectives
- Communicate and maintain current account status in partnership with our Account Receivables team
- Attend Regional & National training opportunities, as appropriate, as an ambassador for the McHutchison brand

Skills and experience you need to apply:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferred
- Proficient computer skills in MS Office applications, particularly with Excel
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the horticulture industry required; nursery or greenhouse specific experience preferred
- Previous experience in a sales or business development role
- Growth mindset, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the desire to facilitate cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, if needed
The position is Full-Time position that is exempt from overtime, allows flexible hours to meet the needs of customers. It requires that the successful candidate live in the territory but is not tied to a physical office.
Technical Specialist

In North America, our headquarters in based in Columbus, Ohio operating in 20 states. Our Technical Department is currently in search of a Technical Specialist to support our customers and Sales organization.
Job Overview:

As a Technical Specialist, you will work closely within the Dümmen Orange technical team, supporting production farms, broker and grower partners in the resolution of production-related challenges, optimizing production practices and advising on new techniques to grow Dümmen Orange products.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Support grower and broker accounts to assist in resolving specific technical challenges
- Prepare customer facing training documents and bulletins that relate to pathology and other technical topics
- Conduct educational webinars for grower and broker customers on new or updated technical practices in all crop categories including phytopathology issues
- Approval of quality claims
- Responsible for verifying technical guide content
- Stay current on university, trade, and internal research being conducted and keep teams informed accordingly
- Communicate/share information internally and externally
- Provide feedback to farms, technical team, product managers and sales on cutting quality & issues
- Facilitate meeting with Sales and Product Managers throughout the selling cycle and beyond
- Serve as the initial point on contact and North American liaison for GreenCare – Dümmen Orange’s phytosanity program
Your Profile
- Degree in Plant Science, Plant Pathology or equivalent experiences
- Minimum of 3-5 years greenhouse growing experience
- Unbiased source for technical knowledge
- Deep cultural knowledge of ornamentals
- Willingness to travel on a regular bases (25 – 50%)
- Analytical mind-set with strong problem solving skills
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills within multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
- Organizational skills
- Computer literate and proficient
JOB CLASSIFICATION: The position is a full-time, exempt role with the ability to work a hybrid schedule.
