Aarons Creek Farms, Inc. was established in 1966 by George Gordon III.  Since then, their enclosed bedding plant and plug ranges have grown to over 300,000 square feet of property. From its inception to the present day, their focus has always been on quality and service.

Agri-Starts offers 72 cell pack liners of edibles and tropicals produced in their tissue culture laboratories.  A wide array of edibles is produced year round, including blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, kiwi, bananas, figs, muscadine grapes and pineapples.  Also we have specialty edible crops, such as goji berry, olives, mulberry, dragonfruit, hops, tumeric, ginger root and others.  Tropicals include Colocasia, Alocasia, Spathiphyllum, Syngonium, Cordyline and many others.

Most varieties are available year round.  Minimum tray order is 2 trays, and packaging is either in 2 tray or 4 tray boxes.

Company History

Amos Zittel & Sons, Inc. is a 4th generation family owned and operated business. They began farming in 1898 and started propagating geraniums for sale in 1964.  They expanded their product line to include other vegetative spring plants and currently have 3 acres of propagation space.

Zittel roots Oglevee, Selecta, Calliope Dark Red, Lavender Rose, Hot Pink, Crimson Flame Geraniums and Ivies, Fantastic Foliage, Fuchsia, Spike, Sprengeri, Vinca, Sunpatiens, and other open items along with Selecta Vegetative Spring Plants. Geraniums are grown in a 30 mm Elle Pot (4 week crop time) or 40 mm Elle pot (6 week crop time). Fuchsia is double pinched, extra-large and grown for 6 weeks in a 40 mm Elle Pot. All vegetative spring plants are grown in 30 mm Elle Pots with a low minimum of 26 per variety.

Zittel is known for their high quality and 99% order fills. Orders are shipped by grower truck whenever possible or delivered Fed Ex. Beneficials are used as a first line of defense along with IPM scouting to control pests.  This assures customers that pests are not resistant to chemicals and/or future beneficial use is not hampered by chemical residue.

ARC Ferns, owned by Dan & Revi Carmi, was founded in 2013.  The company is among the world’s largest producers of fern liners, with an annual production volume of 4-6 million units.

Company History

Balamore Farm Limited is a family farm overlooking the Bay of Fundy in Great Village, Nova Scotia, Canada. Production of field grown perennials was added to the existing cattle farm and strawberry nursery operation in the year 2000. From a few plants in a backyard garden to acres of perennial fields, the goal of Balamore Farm has been to propagate perennial species that are hardy, store well and are valued by consumers.

The sandy-loam soil and temperate weather brought in by the Bay of Fundy, gives Great Village favorable growing conditions for a wide variety of forages, perennials and strawberry plants. North American grown root systems do not have to be washed, heat treated or shipped long distances in containers, thereby increasing viability and flowering in the first year.

Barone Gardens LLC was established in 1989.  In 1991 the garden center and first greenhouse was constructed. Since that time their focus has primarily been young plant propagation, working with renowned breeders such as Suntory and Syngenta Flowers. Today Barone Gardens operates with 100,000 square feet of greenhouses and 4 acres of hardy mum production.

Barone Gardens propagates over 800 species of young plant liners along with 6" basket stuffers, pre-finished 4.5" pots, 10" and 12" hanging baskets.

All geraniums (except regal geraniums) and begonias are sold in 2-26 count strips. Multi-liners are sold in 17 count strips. Pinched and cold treated regal geraniums are sold in 16 count strips.  The majority of liners offered are sold in 51 count strips.

Barone Gardens also propagates hardy mums for Gediflora (Belgium mums) and Syngenta mums. These are sold in 51 count strips, and multi-liners sold in 17 count strips are available from May to June of each year.

Product Availability Dates

All spring liners are available from November to April, except begonias and regal geraniums which are available February to April. Pre-finished material is available March through April.
