Janus Gardens Inc. is a plant propagation nursery.  Established in 1989, they are situated in the lower mainland of British Columbia just minutes from the Lynden border crossing.

As producers, solely of liners, Janus Gardens specializes in the production of a broad spectrum of ornamental Grasses, sedges, and rushes.  They also grow select perennials, specifically Helleborus.  Plug sizes include 128s, 72s, 50s, and 32s and vary according to each plant. Special requests for unlisted sizes may be negotiated.

Company History

Klem’s Greenhouse was started by Mark Klemmedson in 1985 because of the lack of a quality supplier of hiemalis begonia young plants in the United States.  Within a year, in addition to selling rooted and unrooted cuttings through brokers, Klem’s started finishing begonias for local florists and garden centers.

Hiemalis Begonias – Rooted cuttings, unrooted cuttings, pre-finished material, finished material.  They offer (64) varieties of hiemalis begonias featuring the Aphrodite (trailing) series for hanging baskets.

Klem’s believes that their rooted begonias are the best on the market.  Much of this can be attributed to the 30mm peat pellet Klem’s uses for the rooted cuttings.

Knox Nursery's liner production is done in the Eco-friendly Ellepot. The Ellepot provides plants with a healthier root system that results in faster finished times after transplant. Knox also produces a line of pre-filled palletized Ellepots.

Company History

Kube Pak is a family owned and operated business that began in the mid 1960’s. Today the company has 803,000 square feet (18 acres) of gutter-connected double-poly greenhouses. They also have 6 acres of outside growing area.

Plugs, bedding plants, hanging baskets, and flowering potted plants. Potted plants include annuals and perennials in the spring, hardy mums and flowering mums in the fall and poinsettias during the holiday season.

Kube-Pak helped the development of the first automatic drum seeder in the world back in 1970 - fifteen years before drum seeders became commercially available in the United States. Because of their experience using these seeders, Kube Pak offers superior seed placement on plug trays, resulting in a better-finished plug flat for customers.

Company History

Lucas Greenhouses was founded in 1979 by George and Louise Lucas. Their business has grown to cover over 1.2 million square feet of land with state-of-the-art growing facilities. Today, the company has produced over 200 million vegetative cuttings and over 50 million geranium cuttings.

Lucas roots genetics from, Syngenta, Selecta, Danziger, Sakata, Dummen and others. They offer a full line of spring products in both liner and pre-finished programs. Poinsettias are available in both rooted cuttings and as pre-finished, and Mums are available in rooted cuttings. The liner program consists of 102 split, 26 strip, 50 count, and 10 count trays. Their pre-finished spring program line is available in 8 different pot sizes, while the poinsettia line offers 6 different pot sizes.

Product Availability Dates

Spring shipping weeks run from the beginning of October through late June or early July. Mum liners ship between May and mid-July, and rooted poinsettia cuttings can ship from late June through early September.

Established in 1958, Malmborg’s Garden Center was purchased by George Lucht in 1972 after he had worked for the Malmborg’s family for many years. Malmborg's Garden Center had earned an excellent reputation in the community and George decided to keep the name "Malmborg's" and add "Geraniums by George" as his own personal touch.

Malmborg’s offerings include geraniums, dracaena, sprengeri, various grasses, asters, mums, and much more. They offer 26 strips, Kwik Combo Preforma plugs in 17 strips, Ellepot in 18 and 24 strips, and 50 trays for the mums and asters.

Malmborg’s roots over 1,300 varieties of plants, producing over five million plants, which are brought in from around the world.

Company History

Mast Young Plants debuted in November of 2007 following the closing of the former Glass Corner Greenhouses.  Glass Corner began in 1978 in the young plant business as a seed plug supplier of pansy and seed geranium seedlings. Today, Mast Young Plants has evolved into a major rooting station for many breeders such as Syngenta, Selecta, Dummen, and Danziger.

MYP offers 51 cell, 50 cell, 34 cell, Lil Liner (mums only), and 1801 cell liners of over 1200 varieties that include annuals, perennials, tropical foliage, mums, and poinsettias.

MYP offers innovative tray sizes, having introduced the Lil Liner for mum liners – a 15mm plug that can fit 312 per tray but is grown in 52 cell strips spaced for highest quality plants combined with minimal freight costs.

Company History

Meadow View Growers was established in 1984 and provides both annual and perennial liners for growers throughout the continental US. MVG is a family owned business who, along with their dedicated staff, operates 100,000 square feet of growing area offering young plants from breeders such as Suntory, Danziger and Sakata. In addition to producing liners, MVG is a destination greenhouse located in southwest Ohio offering inspiration through creative uses of a vast array of finished annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and succulents to the gardening public.

MVG offers a wide selection of flowering annuals including many items for container gardens and combination planters. Varieties such as Wire Vine, Basket Grass, Chenille, Dichondra, Dorotheanthus, Succulents as well as many bread and butter items like spikes, sprengeri and vinca vine. Young plants of annuals are offered in 84 cells and vernalized perennials in 50 cells (perennials are also available in split trays of 25).

Perennials are available September through March; Annuals are available November through March. EOD applies to orders placed by September 30. Volume pricing is available. Tags are shipped with patented plants; tags for unpatented varieties are optional.  Orders may be picked up Wednesdays through Fridays with advance notice.

The extensive use of predatory insects has virtually eliminated pesticide sprays. Some of these beneficials go with our plants at no extra charge.

Micandy Gardens is a family owned business started in 1964 by newlyweds Andy and Micki Buist. The fledgling business has grown many times over the years. Today they have 450,000 square feet of greenhouse space with an additional 75,000 square feet of warehouse, production, and office space.

Company History

The nursery was founded in 1950 by O.F. Nelson and his two sons, Earl and B.P. The nursery has been owned and operated by Mark Nelson, B.P.'s son, since 1993. Nelson’s has been specializing in blooming tropicals for over 40 years.

O.F. Nelson’s currently grows in 10 acres of Dutch glasshouses in Apopka, Florida. They produce Bougainvillea, Jasmine Sambac, Clerodendrum, Mandevilla, Dipladenia, etc. All plants are grown in 4”, 6”, 8” & 10” pots and/or hanging baskets. They also produce 72 cell tray liners.

Company History

Pacific Plug & Liner was founded in October 1999. We are located on the beautiful California Central Coast with a climate ideal for plant production. We have approximately 250,000 sq. ft. dedicated to growing young plants. In 2008, PP&L installed 1 acre of outdoor benches to take advantage of the sunshine and mild weather. Our perennials and select specialty plants are hardened off outdoors from spring through fall.
